Jeffrey Campbell

After a long month of holiday retail nightmares at work, I thought January would be a slow month at the store. For those who don’t know me, I work at an amazing boutique in Port Washington, NY that is an awesome mix of SOHO/LA comes to LI. Since opening in our new location in September, we’ve been thankfully flooded with customers. January for most retail locations is extremely slow and filled with mostly returns, but we’ve been just as busy as ever.

I finally got a day off yesterday! Haven’t had one in a couple weeks (aside from the occasional trip to visit my boyfriend at Lehigh). So naturally, I did a huge shopping day to relax.

The problem with January is that it’s between seasons at most stores. Most winter sales are over, and spring previews really are just an excuse for delaying new items until February when people begin buying again. I hate January shopping, but I desperately need new running sneakers, and refuse to pay full price for sneakers when I hate working out.

Long story short– I didn’t buy sneakers today. I mean, can anyone make a pair that wont make me look like a goon? I disapprove of every sneaker on the discounted market right now. I’ll stick with my hand me downs for now. What I did find we’re some great bargains at Marshall’s that I thought I’d share because someone should really take advantage of them!

To start: the Marshall’s in my area has really nailed their target market (me) because I was loving everything there today despite it being January. I was able to snag two adorable gingham button down shirts by Ralph Lauren, black and pink for $24.99 each. Love them! Can’t wait to pair them with shorts in the spring!

Another great find I noticed but didn’t purchase: new top designer handbags that I haven’t seen lately. Celine, Prada, Fendi, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, etc have all hit the discount distribution and I couldn’t be happier. My mom was able to buy an awesome MK satchel for me this Christmas for $180!

Today I spotted the Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha Crossbody in off white for $300. Not a deep bargain but this bag as I’ve been told by numerous Nordstrom SA’s, is too big of a seller to ever go on sale. I own this bag in classic black and I absolutely love it. And no I didnt pay full price for mine (duh!) Definitely a great purchase if you’re looking for a fun summer bag.

There is also a bunch of Jeffrey Campbell Tardy’s still available! People obviously haven’t seen my post because six lovely pairs are left unsold and need good homes!

So there are *some* items out in stores now that can fulfill my shopping addiction. But oh boy I can’t wait for spring!

I’ve always been a fan of Jeffrey Campbell shoes. The edgy and funky style of the line is something rarely seen in this typical Long Island town, and it’s nice to stand out from the crowd sometimes. But being that money spent on one pair of these heels would be better spent paying off my student loans (only less than 300 payments people! wahoo), I usually need to absolutely LOVE a pair before I get them. That means literally thinking about them day or night and online shop stalking them to see if anyone has them on sale (tip: google shopping works wonders on the wallet). Yes I’m aware how sick my obsession with finding a deal is.

So doing my routine check in at my local Marshall’s (literally “checking-in”, since I’m also addicted to Foursquare), I didn’t expect to find anything new since we are technically in between seasons right now. But as I made my way through the shoe department I spotted a young girl and mom. The teenager was begging her mom for these boots that the mother wanted absolutely nothing to do with. She looked almost embarrassed at her daughter’s choice of footwear. As I passed them I got a peek at the boots. My heart skipped a beat. $#%&! ARE THOSE JEFFREY CAMPBELL TARDY BOOTS AT MARSHALL’S? Holy crap. I almost tackled the two in front of me to grab a box. Red tardy boots, online at Nordstrom still at full price, were there in front of me at my local Marshall’s. I mean does it get any better?

…….IT DOES. After I found my size and ravenously tried them on, I laced up the second shoe and got the golden ticket. For those of you that don’t shop at your local T.J.Maxx/Marshall’s/Homegoods, the golden ticket means that your item has passed the stages of the “compared at” price, finished it’s time as a discount bargain, even sailed through the sale price, and landed in the world of CLEARANCE. I got these Jeffrey Campbell boots on clearance for $49.00.

No knockoff needed gals! Now I can pay Sallie Mae and not feel guilty in the process!

Original $199.95, CLEARANCE $49.00

My advice: screw Kim, you need tardy’s to party!

Don’t Be Tardy for the Party
