Jesus Saves… I Spend
In honor of Lent, I will be challenged to do something I haven’t had to do since I was too young to read price tags…. not shop!
For my non-Christian readers, Lent is a six week observance starting from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday in which Christians give up certain luxuries as a form of penitence. In my younger years, it was easy to give up my guilty pleasures such as giving up “junk food”, “video games”, and my classic annual line to my mother “I’m giving up homework for lent.” But as a post-college graduate finding the struggle between saving and spending, my very worried (but caring) boyfriend suggested I give up shopping.
Exactly one week into this repentance and I am already feeling the burn of the devil’s temptation. It really doesn’t help that I work at one of the trendiest places to shop on Long Island, NY. With every work shift I feel myself more and more tempted to buy, but will prove to my family and myself that I can withhold from shopping for 40 days!
To curb my temptation I will be posting bargain finds that I have collected over the years, so stay tuned!
…… aaannnnnddd I am definitely buying this UNIF shirt when April 5th rolls around!
